Big Spring Country Club first opened for play in 1961. The course was designed by Wendell Ross.
The Big Spring Country Club golf course was built on flat terrain and is easy to walk. The fairways are wide, and the greens are fast. The wind can become a factor which may be why there are wind farms (massive electric generating wind mills) in the area. Water hazards come into play on a few holes.
Par for the course is 71. From the back tees the course plays to 6,803 yards. From the foward tees the course plays to 5,455 yards. The longest hole on the course is # 11, a par-5 that plays to 538 yards. The shortest hole on the course is # 16, a par-3 that plays to 182 yards from the back tees.
Watch out for # 6, a 432 yard par-4 challenge and the #1 handicap hole on the course. The easiest hole at Big Spring Country Club is # 16, the 149 yard par-3.
